Dearest Friend,

       As I write this note to you my heart is full of love for all loving and caring fathers. Fathers that set high standards and righteous ideals for their family through their example, teach values and principles, and are role-models to not only their sons, but also to their daughters who will one day most likely look for their father's attributes in the man they choose to marry....

       I am especially grateful this year for the father of my children and for my own precious father, both of whom are now with the Lord. As I decorated their gravesites with my family this Memorial Day, we shared our thoughts about a father's influence and how each of these incredible men had sacrificed some part of themselves, that their loved ones might have a better life.

       Joe and my dad both honored their role as fathers and lived their lives dedicated to serving their families as laid out in the perfect blueprint of God for men. I praise God for them. While they were not perfect, they lived their lives loving their families as patriarchs of strength, wisdom and love. While women are gifted nurturers, matriarchs and the heart of the home—men are the very foundation of a home, gifted to shield and protect, provide and set a safe foundation for their families. Without a father in the home, families suffer great loss and become vulnerable, even prey to the 'outside' world. God knew this would be so, thus I believe the perfect blueprint for responsibility and leadership is laid out in this scripture: "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church..." Ephesians 5:23

Father, my worth in measured by your love for me which is unconditional, everlasting, eternal and completely mine. Thank you for empowering me with your love and for seeing me as one who completes the whole. I know that it is your will to reclaim every one of your children, and I thank you for never letting me stray far from you. You truly are a perfect Creator.

Affirmation:  I am significant and of infinite worth to God, my Creator.
