 My Dearest Friends,
I pray this email finds you and your family healthy and looking forward to this coming New Year. Though problems in life are continual, so are the blessings of God and his eternal love.
In preparing this letter, wanting it to be timely and important for our lives today, I read one of the articles in the latest WAVES newsletter which stated my exact thoughts and feelings. It is written by Rose Addington, our
WAVES Compassionate Service Director. I'd like to quote from it here in order to highlight its important message. You can read the entire article here.
"In a world that is so troubled with war, with poverty, with discouragement, broken families and no purpose in individual lives, those of us (WAVES) that have gifts to give back must now do so with more zeal than ever. 'What The World Needs Now Is Love, Sweet Love' was never more true.
"Each of us should go in prayer to the Father above, and ask Him, 'is there more I can do?' He will bring it to mind. And we must know in our hearts, that whatever the Father asks us to do, He will equip us to do.
"If each of us would hold a vision this coming year, 'to do more' and do it with the empowerment of God's Will in our lives by going to Him to ask, how much more could we touch this fallen world with the love and hope of God above?"
Thank you, Rose! I am reminded that all it takes for troublesome influences to win is for good men and women to do nothing. Let us look nearby us for opportunities to do good today. Every right and noble and loving act sends ripples outward and makes a difference in our homes, workplaces, neighborhoods and communities. Though ripples spread naturally, they first do require our acts. The more sincere and determined we are in doing good, the more powerful and far-reaching the ripples. Did you know that our efforts to love and do good make it possible for heavenly powers and the angels to add their energy and influence? I invite you to ask in prayer what more you might do to "touch this fallen world with the love and hope of God above." Once you have your direction, do not hesitate. Cast fear and reluctance and every undo thought of self aside, knowing that whatsoever God asks of you, God also empowers you to accomplish. You will succeed!
