It's always negative when that happens to me. There is as book about this called Soul Traveler by Albert Taylor.
Some people have this experience and view it positively.
When it happens to me, I can open my eyes and see and I realize that I'm still dreaming lucidly but I'm paralyzed and cannot scream. I can make noises and can hear the noises I make but can't yell or scream.
