"There is a great secret contained in Embraced By The Light. It is a secret that you already know. It is something that the great prophets and spiritual leaders have tried to tell us for thousands of years. Betty Eadie learned it by nearly dying. It has the power to change your life."

A brief history of Embraced By The Light

Published in 1992, Embraced By The Light was an instant publishing phenomenon, selling over 2-million hardcover copies. It quickly jumped to the top of every bestseller list in America and sat at #1 on the New York Times list for a record-breaking 78 weeks. Betty J. Eadie was featured on major national television shows such as Oprah, Good Morning America, The Today Show, 20/20, Evening Magazine and The O'Reilly Factor. She was featured in articles appearing in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Women's World, and Ladies Home Journal and other national and international publications. Mrs. Eadie was named one of People Magazine's "Most Influential People."

Today, over a decade later, the book is still selling thousands of copies yearly. Bantam Books published a special 10-year quality-paperback edition of Embraced in 2002 to honor its success.

Approximately 11-million copies of Embraced By The Light have been sold in 38 languages and in over 130 countries. Embraced By The Light's track record, its universal appeal and wide fan base, make it a prime book from which to develop a movie enterprise.

Behind the success of Embraced

Betty credits the appeal of Embraced By The Light to its portrayal of her vivid memories of Heaven and to its core message of God's unconditional love for each of us. She learned while touring that the profound insights she brings are often already known by others. Wherever she goes, people tell her of feeling a deep connection to what they read in Embraced By The Light, as if memories of their own, regarding Heaven and the eternal nature of their souls, are awakened in them.

"This awakening has a profound effect," Betty says. "It not only gives people comfort and understanding concerning their lives, it excites them, and makes them want to share with others." This ripple effect of readers passing copies from hand to hand in gestures of spontaneous sharing is part of what has given Embraced its widespread influence.

But, like a stone thrown into a pond, this ripple effect had to have its beginning. "Every Good Work in this life requires exactly that: work on our part," Betty says. "Because our Creator can only create from 'what is, he uses our own efforts and energies to propel us to success. In the beginning, with Embraced By The Light, it took a lot of hard work and sacrifice from everyone involved to get it out there."

She recalls the many months of traveling with her publishers from city to city in a van filled with crates of her newly printed book. "We would arise often before dawn for my early-morning interviews on radio and TV, rushing from station to station for talk shows and news programs. Then into the afternoon, more interviews and appearances, and signings at bookstores where people would stand in line for hours to greet me and share their stories of how Embraced By The Light changed their lives."

In the evenings, throngs of people jammed into high school auditoriums to hear her descriptions in person of the Afterlife. "The overwhelming numbers of people and the almost reverent attention they would give whenever I shared my experience filled me with humility and awe." After each speaking event hundreds would linger, and Betty would stay late into the night to greet them all. "I just couldn't leave when they had waited so long to meet me. By night's end, my hair would often be soaked with their tears."
